Beschreibung (auf Englisch)	VPI stands for "Vereinigung der Privatgüterwagen-Interessenten" which is the German association of parties interested in private freight wagons. The majority of our members come from the transport industry, especially firms which hire out tank wagons and other rail freight wagons. Furthermore, companies from the chemicals and petroleum industries which rent wagons for their own use as well as companies which design, manufacture, convert or repair freight wagons, are also members of VPI. Overall, the member companies operate more than 50,000 wagons on rail. Originally founded in Berlin 1921, the VPI is now located in Hamburg. In order to represent our member´s interest, our activities are focused on commercial, technical, operating, legal and transport and enviromental issues. The VPI is a member of the International Union of Privat Wagons (UIP) in which it plays an active and important role.
